Step One - Riding Basics

As with many endeavors, you must first learn the basics prior to taking up horse riding.  You should do any research and perform your due diligence to learn what may be necessary, prior to signing up for any type of horse riding lesson program.  Your top consideration is whether you truly are interested in taking up horseback, or really just enjoy looking at these wonderful creatures.  As an example, riding is not an activity for the timid and there is some risk involved.

Riding Camp or Individual Lessons

For a beginner, your best two options are to begin with group lessons at a horseback riding camp, or invest in individual lessons.  Each option has its advantages and disadvantages.  Riding Camp is usually less expensive, but you will most likely not get as much instruction as in an individual lesson.  Private lessons are almost always more expensive, but you may be able to learn much more, especially with an experienced instructor.  You may even be better off trying both group and private lessons to see which is best for you.

Due Diligence

You can use the web to do your research, and just learn the different tricks to horseback riding and of course always remind yourself of the different safety precautions that you should take when horseback riding.

Horseback riding is a wonderful activity that anyone should attempt at least one time, and if you have children this is something that you are should want to consider enjoying with them.

Whatever option you pick, just remember that you are learning horse riding to enjoy yourself, not as a chore.
